07/25/07: 6 Mile Run: Neighborhood

I listened to Daily Source Code. Adam has moved on to talking about his iPhone. He got brave and hacked it to put in a SIM from his existing cell phone based on his reading on the web (he didn't put the link in the show notes, so I think this is the right one). He likes his for the same reasons I like mine. He did find some of the same frustrations including the difficulty with moving pictures from the iPhone to the computer. His complaint helped motivate me to try a little more exploration. First, I discovered on the Apple Support forums that someone had noted that the iPhone had to be unlocked to be able to use the file systems capabilities to simply drag and drop files via the Windows' Explorer. However, I have never had any luck getting the iPhone's camera to show up in the Explorer. Well, I managed to get it done. Here's how:

  • Reboot
  • Unlock iPhone
  • Put iPhone in cradle
  • Set the default action to view and move files via Windows Explorer on the dialog box that comes up (I also set that as the default action for the Apple iPhone by clicking on the set options button on the dialog)
Now, it seems to work everytime. Yeppee!

This was another evening run during which I didn't notice that I was going so slow. In fact, I felt good. However, I didn't feel fast either.
