May 14-16: Running, Swimming, and I'm Doing a Tri

Kate left me a comment this week asking if I was doing the Buster Britton Memorial Tri. I said no, but that I was gradually work myself up to do a Tri. The more I thought about it and checked out this particular triathlon, the more I thought "I could do that." So, I signed up and added a 400 yard swim to my training this week. This will be my first ever tri, so I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I am sure it will be fun. Tomorrow, I am going to ride 13 miles, then run 3. I expect my legs will be a bit funny when the running starts. Thanks for planting the seed Kate. Oh, I bought my outfit and registered. I am committed. I am doing this thing. I found out today that one of the guys I run with is doing it too.

Betsy had a nice Muffins with Mom at John's school this week. He was really sweet and made a book and some art work to celebrate the occasion. Pictures as posted on Flickr below:

John and I ran in the 2009 Birmingham Chapter AAZK Fourth Annual Zoo Run today. John's run was all the Zebra Zip and I ran the 5K (see pictures below). I took second place in my age group (medal and certificate are in the pictures below).

Still draining myself at work. It feels like it is my fault and I just need to learn to manage time and people better. But, demands are high, time is short, and just have to keep plugging.

YEAH! Way to go for it!! That's AWESOME Bob. It really is a fun race--and of course you'll do well. You already know what a tough bike course it is and the swim will be the smallest portion of the whole thing.

Best of luck in your swimming over the next few weeks. And I can't wait to hear how the race goes for you.

The outfits are definitely fun.

So excited for you!
